Tax Guide

Here at Red Rock Tax we have created a Tax Guide to help guide you through the 2021 Tax Season

We discussed the changes of this year’s taxes, but now let’s chat about all the documents you should bring with you to make your tax appointment seamless and easier. We can guide you through the process and remind you what else you may need, but using this guide before meeting with us will help get everything done more quickly. We’ll break the list down by a few sections including personal information, income, and deductions.

Personal Information:

We’ll want you to bring in any of your personal information like last year’s taxes, social security cards for yourself and any of your dependents. You wouldn’t normally need last year’s taxes; however, since you can use the previous year’s taxes because of Covid, it’s a good thing to bring them with as a reference. You’ll also want your checking or savings information handy if you’d like your returns directly deposited into an account. This is also where we’d want to see the government statement of your stimulus payment.

Income:

Everyone knows your W-2’s are the biggest chunk of the income you’ll want to bring for your tax prep. At this point, all employers have mailed out the W-2’s, so you should have those documents. If you were like many American’s who used unemployment because of Covid, then you’ll need to bring in the 1099-G statement. Self-employed individuals will also need to bring in their invoices and tracking for their businesses. Proof of rental income, retirement income, savings income, and any other 1099 forms all need to be brought into your appointment.
